The prevalence of diabetes in dogs increased from 13.3 cases per 10,000 in 2006 to 17.5 cases per 10,000 in 2010, according to the report on pet health, while the prevalence of diabetes in cats increased from 55.5 cases per 10,000 in 2006 to 64.3 cases per 10,000 in 2010.

"Since we're the only ones who have access to this many pets and this much data, we just felt it was our responsibility to share it broadly with the profession," said Dr. Jeffrey S.
